ใน Scrum จะมี Scrum Artifacts ที่ได้พูดถึง Product Backlog โดยใน Scrum Guild 2020 ได้พูดถึง Product Backlog ไว้ดังนี้

Product Backlog - ใน Scrum Guild 2020

ก่อนที่จะบอกว่าใน Product Backlog มีอะไรบ้าง เรามาดูก่อนว่าใน Scrum Guild 2020 บอกไว้ว่ายังไง

"The Product Backlog is an emergent, ordered list of what is needed to improve the product. It is the single source of work undertaken by the Scrum Team.

Product Backlog items that can be Done by the Scrum Team within one Sprint are deemed ready for selection in a Sprint Planning event. They usually acquire this degree of transparency after refining activities. Product Backlog refinement is the act of breaking down and further defining Product Backlog items into smaller more precise items. This is an ongoing activity to add details, such as a description, order, and size. Attributes often vary with the domain of work. 11 The Developers who will be doing the work are responsible for the sizing.

The Product Owner may influence the Developers by helping them understand and select trade-offs."

จะเห็นว่า ใน Scrum Guild ระบุไว้เพียงกว้างๆ เท่านั้น ซึ่งถ้าหาก Product Owner ไม่มีประสบการณ์และมองภาพรวมของระบบได้กว้างมากพอ ใน Product backlog อาจจะมีแค่ Features กับ Bugs/Defects ก็ได้ ซึ่งจริงๆ แล้วใน Product backlog นั้นเราสามารถใส่สิ่งอื่นๆ เข้าไปได้

Product Backlog ควรมีอะไรบ้าง

ถ้าให้พูดแบบกว้างๆ เลย คือ ทุกอย่างที่ทีมต้องทำในการพัฒนาและปรับปรุงระบบตลอดอายุของโปรดักนั้นๆ โดยสิ่งเหล่านี้เป็นตัวอย่างของสิ่งที่ควรมีอยู่ใน Product backlog

Product Backlog เป็นรายการของงานทั้งหมด ที่ต้องทำในโปรเจคหรือโปรดัก ตลอดอายุของในโปรเจคหรือโปรดักนั้นๆ ซึ่งมักจะถูกสร้างขึ้นและดูแลโดย Product Owner หรือทีมผู้พัฒนา เพื่อใช้ในการระบุความต้องการที่จะถูกพัฒนาในอนาคต ต่อไปนี้ คือ ตัวอย่างของรายการที่อาจปรากฏใน Product Backlog:

  • User Stories
  • Features
  • Bugs/Defects
  • Technology Upgrade
  • Security
  • Maintanance
  • Improvments
  • Knowledge Acquisition
  • Re-design
  • Performance Testing
  • Marketing

ทั้งหมดนี้ล้วนเป็นสิ่งที่ Product Owner และทีมพัฒนาจะต้องนำมาใส่ไว้ใน Product backlog ทั้งสิ้น และหากทีมมีสิ่งที่ต้องทำนอกเหนือจากที่กล่าวมา ก็ต้องนำมาใส่ไว้ด้วย เช่นกัน และ Product Owner ต้องจัดเรียงลำดับความสำคัญเอาไว้ให้เรียบร้อยด้วย
